Roads and Bridges Funding Equity

Our transportation system is more than the sum of its parts — it is a web of connectivity.

CMTA supports improving the interregional connectivity of Central Minnesota’s surface transportation system through the through maintenance and expansion of our roads and bridges for the long term economic viability of the region. Projects of significant importance include:

  • Freeway expansion of US Highway 10 from MN Trunk Highway 24 through Rice
  • Construction of Interstate 94/US Highway 10 River Crossing near MN Trunk Highway 24
  • Expansion of Interstate 94 from Fish Lake Interchange to MN Trunk Highway 24

Correction of MN/DOT District 3 funding disparities and the full budget implementation for Central Minnesota.

Dating back to 1976 MN/DOT District 3 has realized an 80 percent return in federal and State Trunk Highway dollars received compared to its contributions to the State and federal highway trust funds. While these considerable shortfalls have occurred, other Greater Minnesota Districts have enjoyed as much as 134 percent return in overall federal and State Highway revenues during this same time period.
